These Service Terms apply when you request a quotation, book a service, or otherwise engage The Handyman Johannesburg (“we”, “us”, “our”) to provide handyman or related services. By booking or accepting a quotation, you agree to these Service Terms.

1. Quotations and Scope

Quotations are based on the information provided by you and may be subject to change if the scope, site conditions, access, or requirements differ from what was described. If an on-site inspection is required, a quote may be confirmed only after inspection.

2. Booking and Scheduling

Bookings are subject to availability. We will confirm a scheduled date and time window where possible. You agree to provide reasonable access to the premises and to ensure someone authorised is available to grant access, approve the work, and make payment (unless agreed otherwise).

3. Call-Out Fees and Assessments

Where a call-out fee applies, it will be communicated in advance. Call-out fees typically cover travel time and basic assessment and may be deducted from the final invoice where agreed in writing.

4. Pricing, Variations, and Additional Work

Any additional work not included in the agreed scope (a “Variation”) will be quoted or charged at our standard rates and must be approved by you before we proceed, unless urgent work is required to prevent damage or ensure safety.

5. Materials and Parts

Where we supply materials, they may be charged separately or included in a quote. If you supply your own materials, you are responsible for suitability, compatibility, quality, and warranties. We are not responsible for failures caused by customer-supplied materials or parts.

6. Payment Terms

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, payment is due on completion of the work or as stated on the invoice. We may request a deposit for certain jobs, special-order materials, or larger scopes.

7. Customer Responsibilities

  • You must provide safe, reasonable access to the work area.
  • You must secure pets and remove fragile items from the work area.
  • You must disclose known hazards or prior issues relevant to the job.

8. Safety and Refusal of Work

We may refuse or stop work if conditions are unsafe, access is not provided, or the scope changes materially without agreement. We may also pause work where safety compliance requires additional measures.

9. Existing Damage and Hidden Conditions

Some properties may have hidden defects (for example, wiring issues, water damage, rot, or structural problems). You acknowledge that opening, drilling, removal, or repairs can reveal hidden conditions. If hidden conditions are discovered, we will notify you and may require a variation quote.

10. Photographs and Communication

You may send photos or videos to help with diagnosis and quoting. We may also take before-and-after photos for quality control and record-keeping. Any use of photos for marketing will be subject to your consent where required.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the value of the services provided for the specific job giving rise to the claim, unless otherwise required by applicable law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

12. Governing Law

These Service Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
